Default Difference btw RPG and PvP

Hi,

I heard several times that one must distinguish RPG characters and PvP characters, that whatever you unlock with your RPG character will be avaible to your PvP character, etc...

Fine.

But I want to check if I can also do PvP with my RPG character, or if it only serves to unlock things for my PvP characters... the reason I ask is because some things that my RPG character has were not unlocked... like the runes I received/bought...

For this reason, it would totally suck if you could ONLY PvP with a PvP character and I assume that you can PvP with a RPG character when you reach a certain stage of the game (I am in the desert now, lvl 20). Please confirm that it is not the case.

Thanks,

nostra

God, I am not even sure why people keep asking the same questions over and over

Because I checked the first few pages and did not find the answer. Then I used the search function on this forum with the letters "PvP" and got no result.

Also let me mention this is a forum for BASIC questions, so do not be surprised to find that type of questions here. If it bothers you that much, why not check another one?

This being said, if YOU know the answer, it would not have taken you more time to answer rather than do sarcasm.

You can PvP with your RPG character.
But you cannot RPG with a PvP only character!

The reason why there are two types is that an RPG character has to start from lev 1, no skills and basic equipment.

The PvP character starts at max level and top equipment.

A lev 20 RPG character who is doing PvP is liable to be better than a lev 20 PvP only character if that other player has not done any RPG. That is because the RPG character unlocks skills and runes for the whole of your account. So any PvP only character you make will have access to these unlocked skills and runes.

If you enjoy PvE then stick to the RPG character, you will be able to do everything with that character and be better off for it. (Some of the later missions really teach you to work as a team, something very much lacking in some PvP only characters that some people make!)

That being said, and understood, i wonder if i had a lvl 20 RP toon with unlocked runes, elite skills, and the best droknar's armor, if i'd be better off re-creating that toon as a pvp-only toon than actually using my rp toon for pvp.

The reason i ask that is that often you'll unlock runes, but won't successfully salvage them...your rp toon will not be able to use those but your pvp toon could.

Any other angles to this idea you can think of i'd be interested in hearing.

Simple Answer: Yes, Once you have reached the current "end" to the RPG side of the game. RPG Characters can PVP as if they were PVP made characters. I believe it is after the ascension they are tossed in with the rest. As someone else said, the only real difference is that PVP Only characters are that - restricted only to PvP, while RPG can do both.

Agreed

And as stated above, yes you will be able to pvp with a rp character. I prefer the rp, not just because the pve is fun, but because-for me-it gives me a better understanding of playing the class. Plus it's fun to try to get things unlocked.
